Online restaurant search and food delivery platform Zomato appoints Sameer Maheshwary as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will join the company in July this year. Presently, Sameer is working as South Asian CFO of General Electric India.
“Sameer is an industry veteran, and has a core finance background supplemented with business leadership roles. We’re excited to leverage his knowledge and depth of experience and are excited to build further with him” said, Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO, Zomato.
Zomato, which eyes top spot in the segment, is going to raise funds from some ace investors as it looks to gain edge over rival, Swiggy. According to reports, the company has been in talks with giants like Alibaba for a possible cash influx.
“I am really excited to join Zomato and work with this talented team. Zomato is redefining the industry and I am looking forward to be part of this journey” said Sameer, who has been with GE since 1999 and has held various finance and business roles in the US, Japan and India.
Sameer holds MBA degree from Manchester Business School and he has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Delhi College of Engineering.
