In a strategic move to overtake arch rival, Ola Cabs, American cab-hailing platform Uber is planning to bring new services such as Express Pool on the Indian stage. With Ola going international with its recent launch in Australia, Uber is taking the game to a different level.
“We are exploring multiple innovations in order to minimise the inconvenience for riders in term of time spent in vehicle sharing. Products like Express Pool in the US, which is being piloted, will soon be coming to India,” said Prabhjeet Singh, Uber Regional General Manager.
Express Pool is a shared ride option which lets people join other users with similar routes on the same trip and share the cost of the trip. It is a faster and cheaper service from Uber. Moreover, there will also be options for pickup drop off.
India is one of the largest pool markets for Uber where its riders and drivers have adopted pool emphatically. “More than 25% trips across all the big cities in India are on pool”, he said.
Uber Express Pool is expected to bring down the volume of private cars and heavy traffic in cities.
