The first thing you have to do when you’re in pursuit of your dreams is to leave your comfort zone. Break the shell that always forced you to resort to safer options in life. Years ago, Sky Sins pushed himself out of his comfort zone when he quit a well-paid job at Amazon Web Services. Many among his circle of friends were surprised at his decision. Because nobody would forsake a dream career in Amazon.

But Sky had something else in his mind. The monthly payroll did not make him happy. He was not content. “I took the biggest risk when I walked away from a company like Amazon Web Services. It was a well paying, dream job in an awesome city for anyone fresh out of college. But I knew deep down I had more to offer the world. I wanted to do something I love while having a positive impact on the world,” says Sky.

Today, he is at the helm of a global, premium sports nutrition and fitness brand called Physique Collection by Sky. He’s also into modelling and has collaborated with several global brands. Unlike his counterparts, Sky understands the nuances of social media from both a business and a creative perspective and calls himself a “hybrid of an influencer and marketer.”

My inspiration

The act of creating inspires me. Every single one of us has the ability to make peoples’ lives better as a result of our presence. My mission has always been to inspire people to reach their highest potential and show them what happens when they don’t give up.

Tip to beginners

Enjoy the process. There is so much joy in the process of transforming your body, creating content or starting a business. We often get discouraged by the effort because we’re so focused on the outcome.

But when you fall in love with the journey, the work and the struggle; that’s when growth occurs and that’s where true happiness and success lies.

Biggest influence on my life

Some books have inspired me. My top books are: Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance, Awareness by Osho and  Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I also take a lot of inspiration from rap music. I find the hustler mentality of rap music highly inspiring.

What am I grateful for?

I’m grateful for my health and of course, my family. My parents have always been supportive of everything I do; from modeling to my entrepreneurial endeavors. They encouraged me to find try different things and find my passion from a young age. I’m also grateful for social media. It gives us all an opportunity to express ourselves and form communities with meaningful connections.

How do I unwind?

Working out is pure therapy and is a form of meditation for me. I make sure my training is extremely intense so that it forces me to switch my thoughts off and focus on the present moment. I also mediate first thing in the morning and right before I sleep.
