Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal said now the company will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create innovative products. Bansal, who led Flipkart’s Billion brand launch is now spearheading the company’s move to invest in AI-related technologies.
Flipkart is likely to make huge investments in AI-based startups and products in 2018. According to Bansal, Flipkart is all set to pump in millions in AI in order to embrace the technology into ecommerce business and enhance customer experience.
Moreover, Flipkart is planning to build products centred around AI.
“We believe the use of voice, video, photos is going to see higher adoption and in the back-end we will see AI improve last mile, cataloguing and among other things. It will be across the e-commerce ecosystem,” said Bansal.
Flipkart’s rival Amazon had launched its AI-enabled products in India earlier this year. According to reports, Flipkart will partner with Microsoft for some AI-related projects.
Microsoft has been maintaining Flipkart’s cloud infrastructure through its cloud platform called Microsoft Azure.
“We are ending 2017 on a high after having gained market share. AI is the future and the best tool available in the tech space,” Bansal said.
